I'm not planning on ANYTHING until this Icelandic sweater is complete!

... although I do have thoughts of finishing the purple baby sweater for my friend and making a bright pink fluffy scarf for Dave's cousin, but we'll see

I miss knitting....

I haven't picked up the needles in over a week!
I'm going through withdrawls!

Only one more week.....

So I lied....

You will definitely be hearing from me over the next week and a half as I rant and rave about all the work I have to do, and what I've been doing to procrastinate and avoid it completely. (As I am currently blogging, emailing, watching the Red Sox, looking for yarn online, and somehow also writing up a neuropsychological report all at the same time - GO SOX!) :)

So I really want to make the O.C. poncho... thanks to everyone for all their feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions for yarn to use. I don't want to use anything too heavy or too fuzzy. Something good for the summertime that will hang nicely. Also keep in mind that I am a poor grad student (the only reason I am going to Cancun is because my parents had an extra timeshare week).

Any thoughts???

Finals Mode

Ah, yes... finals are upon us once again. Hopefully I will get through them as painlessly as possible. So just as a warning, you may not be hearing from me too much until mid-May :( The day after finals end, Dave and I are flying out to Cancun, Mexico! Woo hoo! I can't wait!

Needless to say, I am not going to be even close to having a completed knitted poncho or anything to wear while in Mexico. Oh well... I'll have the rest of the summer to knit fun stuff like that!

Hittin' the books!

The O.C. Poncho

I finally found it! This is the knit poncho that I was talking about months ago! I saw it on The O.C.... and I'm such a dork, so I went onto an O.C. fashion message board and someone sent me the pictures. Does anyone know of any patterns to make this?????
Here's the picture of Julie Cooper wearing it on the show :)

Just kidding....

So I decided to scratch the idea of the Belle Star poncho. I wasn't sure if I was going to have enough yarn to finish it, so I didn't want to take the chance. Instead, I cast on for the Cabled Shrug from Interweave Knits -- except I am leaving out the cables. I want to get it done before I go to Cancun, so I figured it would take much longer if I had to learn how to cable as well!

What an awesome weekend! The weather has been gorgeous and yesterday was a perfect day for watching a marathon! One of my friends from my program had a party because she lives along the marathon route. It was so much fun.... I think I had a little too much fun partying all day long.... And I get to do it all over again next weekend! I'm going down to visit Dave a UConn for Spring Weekend. His old roommates are having an NFL Draft Party and a Wiffle Ball Tournament. Should be a fun time! I guess I should get started on my finals, so that I can enjoy myself without worrying about how much work I have to do in the next couple weeks!

Back to studying.

Casting on....

It seems I keep starting new projects without finishing anything! Well, actually I finally finished Jenna's scarf last week -- just in time for spring :-/ Oh well.

So tonight I just cast on for Belle Star , a poncho I found on www.knitty.com. I'm ussing the hot pink yarn I recycled from an old sweater a few weeks ago. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it in time for my trip to Cancun with Dave. It's less than one month away! Can't wait!

Blogger Blues!

I LOST HALF OF MY TEMPLATE LAST NIGHT! All of a sudden it had vanished! Poof, and it was gone! And of course it was the part that contained all of my links and webrings, etc. At least all the color modifications I had made were not lost -- I spent so much time trying to coordinate the colors! Well, back to re-building my blog....

So sick....

Once again, I've stretched myself too thin. And as a result.... another miserable sinus infection. And when I get a sinus infection, I get it bad. Well, at least I was able to get a jump start on my fuzzy purply (or purpley?) scarf, while sick in bed all day yesterday. Although I'd rather have taken the Cabrio out for a drive since the weather was absolutely gorgeous -- gotta love the convertible!

Other knitting news: I decided to make some cute booties for my pregnant friend (the one who was supposed to get the baby blanket!). So I cast on for that the other day, but haven't gotten very far yet. The purply scarf is just so much more fun to knit! Over the weekend, I was successful in unraveling the hideous hot pink sweater and have begun to wind the yarn up into balls, which will eventually become a fun felted bag for the spring/summer -- that is, if I ever get to it since I have so many project ideas that I want to do all at once!

Project Ideas....

So here's my list of things I want to start:

1. French Market Bag from Knitty - I have this hot pink sweater shirt thing that I think is hideous - I never wore it. So I'm thinking of taking it apart and using that yarn for it. It would be fun for the summer!

2. Mini-Cardigan - this one is from Interweave Knits, but it's the summer issue, so it hasn't come out yet.

3. Fuzzy scarf - no particular pattern, but a long thin scarf using the Moda Dea yarn I got from my SP!

4. Plus, I really want to make a poncho (like this Rowan pattern) for when I go on my trip to Cancun in May, but I'm not sure if I'll get to that in time.

In the meantime, I'll continue working on:

1. The big bad baby blanket (aka. BBBB)
2. Jenna's scarf - it's almost done!

Woo Hoo! New Pictures!

So I finally got my act together and posted some pictures! It's so nice to finally relax, knowing that I have no more midterms hanging over my head. I honestly have not been that overwhelmed with school work in a really long time. But it's finally over... and stats class was canceled for today, so I can just chill out and hopefully get over this nasty sickness I've had for about a month now!

So I'm going to do a bit of shopping for my Secret Pal this afternoon! It should be fun to pick stuff out. I absolutely love what my SP sent me - it's so much fun to receive packages in the mail! I got some gorgeous, soft, purply yarn from her.... so I have to finish up Jenna's scarf real quick because I need those needles to whip up a fuzzy, purply scarf of my own!

Dave will be off doing Army National Guard stuff this weekend, so I'll have some time to catch up on some reading and knitting and hanging out with the girls :)
Gettin' Lucky on St. Patty's Day! (That's me on the right, and my roommate Anne on the left)
Look what I got from my Secret Pal!!! She's the best! I love it all... ps: her daughter has awesome taste! :)
Hmmm, what could be in this lovely Birthday package from my mom????
Icelandic Wool!!!!
Slowly but surely making progress on the BBBB (that I've decided to keep for myself since I won't be finished with it until I have kids which is YEARS from now!)
