I'm not planning on ANYTHING until this Icelandic sweater is complete!

... although I do have thoughts of finishing the purple baby sweater for my friend and making a bright pink fluffy scarf for Dave's cousin, but we'll see

now that's ONE HUMUNGOUS FOOT!

If you are one of my brothers... DON'T READ THIS POST! I doubt that will be a problem because I don't think they care enough about my knitting habit to read my blog unless I tell them to :)

So I got the pattern for the Fiber Trends Felted Clogs in the mail yesterday. I'm making two pairs -- Christmas presents for each bro. I must admit that the pattern seemed so daunting at first, that I almost decided to do a different project instead. But once I got going I realized that it's really easy. As long as you keep track of your stitches. Counting every single stitch can be a drag, but oh well. So I started the sole last night and continued on the toe and instep today. And it is turning out to be one GIGANTIC slipper! I am so tempted to give them the slippers without felting them, just to see their reactions! Every now and again I pause to take a look at my progress and I actually laugh out loud imagining a foot that big. Anyhoo... I have spent way too much time on knitting today... back to the books.

this weekend at the movies.....

I haven't kept up with the books as much as I used to -- I read the first two Harry Potter books when I was teaching in Stamford because that is all the kids ever talked about. It was basically a necessity in order to have a conversation and interact with the kids. But going back to school hasn't helped in keeping up with my pleasure reading. Thank god for the movies though. We saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this weekend on IMAX and I thought it was by far the best of the first four movies. As the characters grow up, there is a more of a comedic side to it, and there is definitely action and suspense. Definitely check it out! Meg gives it two thumbs up :)

Turkey Day!

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! It's always so nice to just chill with the fam, cook and eat great food, drink great wine, watch football for hours, and visit with old friends. I love the holidays. This year we all seem to be getting into the Christmas spirit a bit earlier than usual. Who cares... it's fun! I didn't get much knitting done this weekend (actually, I should say that there was no knitting at all this weekend, oh well).

But I have been doing some cooking! We all go to my Gramma's for Brunch/Appetizers after my cousins run the Manchester Road Race Thanksgiving morning (I've only run once, but it was a lot of fun... you can usually find me at the HS football game instead!) This year we made a yummy breakfast casserole. I added the link for the recipe on my sidebar. It was definitely a hit! Then we went to my aunts for more apps and dinner. I made my party specialty -- Spinach & Artichoke Dip. Love it! Since I've been eating healthier, I've definitely gotten into cooking a lot more. But don't be mistaken, these two recipes are the farthest thing from healthy. But it's the holidays and they taste so unbelievably good, so I opt to just not think about it :)

After too many days of doing nothing and hanging out, I gotta get back to the real world... the books and studying await...

PICTURES!

What a beautiful fall day! I went home to visit the fam for the day. Actually, I had lost my license, so I had to go home and figure out how to get a new one. And as I was helping my mom do some cleaning, I found it underneath the chair in the family room! What luck! So then I just hung out with my brother and my puppy (Molly) for the afternoon. Here's Molly playing tag:

Isn't she the sweetest?!

I haven't knit in a few weeks, so last night I picked up My So-Called Scarf (while sadly watching the Patriots lose). I made a big booboo somewhere and now I have 2 less stitches on the needle. Hmmm. I can see exactly where I goofed, but I have no idea how to fix it. Oh well, I guess I'll just make my stitches a bit looser to make up for the loss.... and hope no one notices!

I decided to put this one aside until after the holidays, but I'm actually really impressed with my work on the Swing Coat Sweater -- I've never made anything more complicated than a scarf before!

it's that time of year again!

So I decided that I have to come up with a knitting plan, seeing that Christmas is creeping up on me.

Swing Coat Sweater - needs to be put on hold until after the holidays because the recipient will NOT fit into it for another year or so ;)

My So-Called Scarf -holiay gift for someone in the fam, so it needs to be finished ASAP if I plan on giving anyone else knitted items as gifts

Felted Slippers - the two bros have requested a pair each

Fingerless Mits - I have never made another on dpns so I'm a bit nervous, but a special someone requested this, so I just might need to learn

Irish Hiking Scarf - my roommate is knitting this up so quick that I just may need to steal the pattern for a few other scarves for family members

Ann Norling's Fruit Caps
- and of course there are 3 new babies (Charlie, Ava, and Alexis) who will need to keep their heads warm this winter and this is the perfect pattern

How am I ever going to get all this done when I am notorious for never finishing projects! Agh!

re-vamping the blog

Please excuse the messiness of my blog until I get the new design finalized. I'm loving the 3 column layout. I got the template from this guy. Once I gave up on editing my existing template and copied one of his, it was so easy.

Now I have to work on making it my own :)

more pics

Don't we look cute? It's Tinkerbell and Mr. Kensington. See our backstage passes? Mr. Kensington is the band manager for the band "Megapede" (a completely made up Brittish rock band from the 80's!) What a crazy night! They all stayed in character for the entire night. Here's the whole band:

i could use some extra cash

My blog is worth $564.54.
How much is your blog worth?

need. blog. help. now.

Okay. So I'm trying to re-design the layout here and it's not working so well. Somehow I have been successful at moving the main section to the center by changing the margins and such. But now I'm trying to add a column to left of the main section (Right now all it says is "In progress" and "My wishlist"). However, it is stuck underneath the column on the right side. Any ideas on how to get it over to the left?!?!

Halloween Fun

I know it's not the best shot, but it's all I've got so far.... you can see Dave the "Used Car Salesman" on the left, Me as "Tinkerbell" in the middle, and Michelle as "Jem" on the right. More pics to come....
